Small Weddings vs. Big Weddings: Which Fits Your Vision?
One of the first questions couples have to answer when planning their wedding is a big one:
How many people are we inviting?
Some couples dream of a cozy celebration surrounded by their closest people. Others have been imagining a packed dance floor, huge wedding party, and every aunt, cousin, coworker, and childhood friend there to celebrate.
And guess what?
Both can make for an incredible wedding day.
The right guest count isn’t about what’s trending or what someone else thinks your wedding should look like. It’s about figuring out which kind of celebration feels the most like you.
So, let’s talk small weddings vs. big weddings — and how to decide which one fits your vision.
The Small Wedding: Intimate, Personal & Relaxed
There’s something incredibly special about looking around your wedding and knowing every single person in the room has played an important part in your story.
Smaller weddings give couples the opportunity to slow things down a little.
You may have more time to talk with each guest, soak in the little moments, and create an atmosphere that feels intimate and intentional.
Small weddings can also give you room in your budget to focus on the details that matter most to you. Maybe that means upgrading your florals, adding a fun dessert experience, investing in photography and video, or creating a beautiful dinner your guests will remember.
And smaller doesn’t have to mean simple.
You can still have the gorgeous ceremony, beautiful décor, packed dance floor, emotional speeches, incredible food, and all of the wedding-day moments you’ve been dreaming about.
At Superstition Manor, our South Villa seats up to 125 guests, making it a beautiful option for couples wanting that more intimate feeling while still having plenty of room to celebrate.

The Big Wedding: High Energy, Big Moments & Everyone You Love
If your guest list keeps growing every time you look at it… you might just be a big-wedding couple.
And we LOVE it.
Big weddings have an energy all their own.
There’s nothing quite like walking into your reception and seeing a room filled with people who came together just to celebrate the two of you.
More guests can mean a bigger wedding party, louder cheers during your grand entrance, more people filling the dance floor, and a celebration that feels like one giant party from beginning to end.
Big weddings are perfect for couples with large families, big friend groups, or anyone who simply can’t imagine narrowing down the guest list.
Our North Villa can seat up to 250 guests, while our Barn can accommodate up to 300, giving our larger weddings plenty of room for dinner, dancing, and all the celebrating that comes with bringing your favorite people together.
Think About the Feeling — Not Just the Number
Instead of starting with “How many people should we invite?” try asking:
“How do we want our wedding to feel?”
Do you picture sitting down for dinner and having time to visit with nearly everyone in the room?
You may love a smaller wedding.
Do you picture a packed dance floor with friends and family everywhere you turn?
A larger celebration might feel more like you.
Neither answer is wrong.
The guest count simply changes the experience.

Think About Your Guest List Before You Fall in Love With a Space
One of our biggest pieces of advice is to have a realistic idea of your guest count before choosing your wedding space.
You don’t need the exact number yet, but you should know whether you’re realistically planning for 75 people or 275.
Your guest count affects your room layout, ceremony setup, reception flow, catering, budget, and ultimately which space will feel the most comfortable for your wedding.
You want a venue that fits your celebration — not a celebration you’re trying to squeeze into your venue.
Think About Your Budget
Guest count and wedding budget are closely connected.
Every additional guest can affect catering, bar service, rentals, invitations, favors, desserts, and other parts of your wedding.
That doesn’t mean you automatically need to cut your guest list.
It simply means knowing your priorities.
Maybe having 200 people there is one of the most important parts of your wedding day.
Perfect.
Maybe you’d rather invite 75 people and put more of your budget toward photography, florals, entertainment, or other upgrades.
Also perfect.
Your wedding budget should support your priorities, not somebody else’s.

Ask Yourself Who You Can’t Imagine the Day Without
If you’re stuck between a small wedding and a big one, start building your guest list in layers.
Begin with the people you absolutely cannot imagine getting married without.
Then add immediate family.
Closest friends.
Extended family.
Coworkers.
Family friends.
And keep going.
At some point, you’ll usually start to see where your natural guest count lands.
You might realize your dream intimate wedding really is 80 people.
Or you might realize there’s absolutely no way you’re getting that list below 200.
Either answer gives you direction.
